Kaili No.1 Middle School, which has a history of more than 70 years, was rated as a provincial second-class demonstration high school in the evaluation of provincial demonstration high schools at the end of 2002. The total evaluation score in that year was 578.5 points, which was only 1.5 points away from the first-class demonstration high school standard of 580 points.

While striving to improve the construction of the old campus, a new campus was built in Kaihuai in 2009, with a total investment of nearly 400 million yuan and a planned land area of more than 320 mu, with a total construction area of10.3 million square meters and a green area of nearly 95,000 square meters. In the past two years, only 20 graduate students have been introduced, and the number of full-time teachers has increased from 140 ten years ago to more than 380.
