What happened to the seventy-two martyrs in Fenyang City?

1in mid-August, 945, Japan had surrendered, and the Japanese troops stationed in Fenyang colluded with the Yanjun (Shanxi warlord) and refused to surrender to our army. Our Eighth Route Army plans to capture Fenyang City. At that time, there was a bomb shelter dug by the Japanese invaders in the northwest corner of the city (another said it was dug by an inside line) to connect the inside and outside of the city and prepare to capture Fenyang from the inside line. At that time, there were 1000 Japanese troops stationed in Fenyang. Together with the puppet troops, it is estimated that there are about 1340 troops and at least 3000 siege troops. On August 2 1 day and night, students from Fen Middle School led the way in a certain unit of the Eighth Route Army 1 Battalion 3 and sneaked into the bomb shelter. Before the other class went in, the enemy had found out and blocked the hole with machine guns. At the same time, the large troops outside the city did not rush into the city after attacking all night because the walls were towering and the inside lines were destroyed.

And two rows of ***67 soldiers in the cave, after insisting on one night, never rushed out. Finally, the next morning, the enemy put poison gas into the cave, and all my 67 heroes died in the bomb shelter. It is a great pity that the large forces outside the city temporarily gave up the plan to capture Fenyang because of other tasks.

Note: The martyrs who died in Fenzhou were 67 officers and men from the 17th regiment, 1st battalion and 3rd company of Shanxi and Suiyuan Brigade, and the deputy company commander was Xue Chunrong.
