What kind of organization does the Buddhist Association belong to?

Legal analysis: Buddhist association is a group organization, not a government agency. The relevant institution among government agencies is the Bureau of Religious Affairs. But in some places, people from religious affairs bureaus are sometimes sent to organize and lead Buddhist associations. Then, these people are government officials, but the organization still belongs to the group organization.

Legal basis: Article 36 of the Constitution of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that People's Republic of China (PRC) citizens have freedom of religious belief. No state organ, social organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in or not believe in religion, and may not discriminate against citizens who believe in or not believe in religion. The state protects normal religious activities. No one may use religion to engage in activities that disrupt social order, harm citizens' health or interfere with the national education system. Religious groups and religious affairs are not dominated by foreign forces.
