It is not illegal to accept apprentices in snack bars.

According to the State Council Bulletin No.20 (Provisional Regulations on the Administration of Individual Industrial and Commercial Houses in Urban and Rural Areas) 1987, shops with formal information such as business licenses operated by individuals may accept 3-5 apprentices according to their operation conditions. If it is a part-time job, there is no need to sign a labor contract.

Individual industrial and commercial households can operate individually or at home. Personal business, with all personal property to bear civil liability; Family business, with all family property to bear civil liability.
