The key to HR interview
Job-hunting guide, interview book, application manual ... When you visit any bookstore, you will always find one or two of these books. There are too many packaging skills about interview application, which not only dazzles the candidates, but also gives the HR manager a headache, always worried that they will be deceived by the packaging of the candidates. Qu Hui, senior director of human resources department of Oriental Holding Group Co., Ltd., interviewed more than 1, job seekers, including many senior managers, during her eight years of human resources experience. In her opinion, the key to an interview is to master some simple methods, so as to leave a good impression on the interviewer. It is not difficult for the personnel manager to test the "true face" of the candidate, just use some simple skills. Let's listen to a set of "infernal affairs" in recruitment and application summarized by Qu Hui, which is very simple and practical for either party in the interview.
Three Principles for Applicants
The rules that applicants should follow sound simple, and there are three rules. However, the surface is simple, but it is not so easy to do.
1. Smile runs through the whole application process
When a candidate enters the company, he may wish to show people with a smile from the beginning of dealing with the front desk. After meeting the interviewer, no matter what the other person's expression is, you should get up immediately, shake hands with him with a smile and introduce yourself. During the interview, always be careful not to make your facial expression too stiff, and keep smiling at the right time. After the interview, no matter how sad the interviewer gives you, get up with a smile and take the initiative to shake hands and say goodbye.
reason: first of all, when you meet for the first time, smiling can bring us closer and make the other person feel that you are not hostile and sincere. If you add a handshake, it will be better. If you have physical contact with the other party, it will be easily remembered by the other party and leave a deep impression. Secondly, if your facial expression is too stiff, you will either appear nervous, inexperienced or introverted. Smiling can hide your inner tension. When you are asked a difficult question, keeping smiling can make you look calm and confident. Thirdly, smiling will make the recruiter feel that you are easy to get along with, friendly and not a troublemaker.
method: in the tense atmosphere of the interview, it is really not easy to make a smile run through. I suggest you make a few habitual smile expressions to relax your mood before you walk into the interview room. In addition, you might as well practice in front of the mirror before the interview.
2. Concentrate
During the interview, look the other person in the eye and nod your head in time during the examiner's speech.
reason: this is a respect for the other party, and it can also make the other party feel that you are very graceful, sincere, generous and not afraid of stage fright. If you keep looking down at your feet or vacillating in the interview, it is not only impolite, but also may make the interviewer doubt the integrity of what you said.
Method: If you really don't have the courage to keep looking at the interviewer's eyes, you can also look under his nose, which will also make him feel that you are listening carefully. When the interviewer introduces the company and the position, he should give timely feedback to show that you attach great importance to what he said and keep it in mind.
3. Keep thinking for 2 seconds
When the interviewer asks a key question, especially about work performance, such as asking you to describe a project you have done and a task you have undertaken. Before answering, you should pause for 2 seconds to allow some time for thinking.
reason: apart from organizing what you want to express, the most important thing is to show the other person that you are seriously recalling your past experience. If you don't have to think at all when answering these questions, and recite them backwards, the interviewer's first impression may be that you have carefully prepared in advance, and then you will question the truth of what you said.
Method: After the interviewer throws a question, you can say "Let me think about it", ponder for two seconds, and use this time to sort out what to say next and get the main points.
The recruiter follows a three-step process
The applicant should leave a good impression on the interviewer in a limited time, and the interviewer's task is to get to know the applicant as much as possible in the same limited time, remove all his packaging and see his real level. After interviewing so many applicants, Qu Hui summed up an "interview trilogy", which was very effective.
Step 1: Listen
Let the interviewer describe his personal situation, including his professional background, work experience, reasons for job hopping, etc., and the time is generally controlled within 2 minutes.
reason: before interviewing an applicant, your understanding of him is limited to the dull content in his resume. When you are not familiar with the other person's situation and know little about his industry and past occupation, it is difficult to ask targeted questions and find out whether the other person is "a few pounds and two ounces" under heavy packaging. In this case, listening quietly is a good way to quickly capture the relevant information of the other party.
method: while listening carefully, pay attention to the other person's resume, and compare some keywords, such as the starting time and years of the described work experience, to see if there is any discrepancy with what is written in the resume. Once the two are found to be different or in doubt, you can make some simple records on your resume and plan the breakthrough for asking questions later.
Step 2: Ask without rules
Pretend to casually ask the applicant about the specific time period of a certain job, reasons for leaving the job, outstanding examples in the work, etc.
reason: for those "battle-hardened" candidates, they are already familiar with the routine questioning routines in the interview. If the interviewer asks questions regularly according to the procedure, the credibility of the interview will be discounted. In order to prevent the other party's answer from being carefully prepared in advance, it is advisable to ask some seemingly irregular questions to achieve the purpose of scaring the other party and disrupting its plan.
method: suppose the applicant talked about a project he participated in 1 minutes ago. During the questioning stage, he suddenly asked, "How many people are there in the team of a certain project you just mentioned?" Observe each other's reaction. Use such details to verify whether there is any discrepancy between the other party's statements before and after.
Step 3: Focus on asking questions
Get a detailed understanding of the outstanding work performance of the applicant, including time, cooperation personnel, progress, difficulties and results.
reason: the job performance of the candidate often occupies a large score in the final decision whether to hire or not, so it is necessary to fully understand it. Generally speaking, if a person has not done a certain job in depth, it is difficult to tell the details, so he must focus on asking questions.
method: in the key questioning, we should seize a key performance and pursue it, and let the other party tell us the detailed working methods, progress and details. If the other person is always beating around the bush in a certain link, or what he says obviously stays at the level of theoretical knowledge in books, he should keep asking to see if he is really an expert in a certain field.
