When talking about the original intention of starting a business, Huang Yuenan joked that he only went to sea so that he could afford a wife. In 1993, Huang Yuenan quit his job and came to Zhongguancun. At first, he worked part-time and earned 20 yuan per day.

With a master’s degree in food and a few simple words in Japanese, Huang Yuenan was lucky enough to get an opportunity to work in Japan in 1994 . Because of his excellent work, the Japanese boss planned to let Huang Yuenan stay in Japan for at least three years. Getting involved in the clothing industry

Huang Yuehai came to Gentleman Shirt Factory (today Gentleman Group) through the recommendation of his university class teacher Yang Genhai.

Because he knew computers, Huang Yuenan was sent to implement informatization of warehouse management. The factory director placed him in the finance department, but the finance department pushed him to the warehouse. There were already a lot of people in the warehouse, so Huang Yuenan had to help the workers select and move shirts.

Huang Yuenan did not implement informatization of warehouse management. After working as a porter for a while, he obtained the permission of the factory director and became a supernumerary salesperson. Before he finished the formalities and walked out of the factory gate, the BP machine rang. Oh my god, the first business is here.

The girlfriend of a junior student of Huang Yuenan worked in a state-owned construction company. Their unit held an event and wanted to give out some ties to everyone. One day, Huang Yuenan heard from a friend that there was a dairy company in Pinggu that wanted work clothes, so he decided to talk to the leader of that company.

When Huang Yuenan arrived at the company, it was during working hours and everyone else was busy. He was arranged to wait for the leader in the lobby alone, which made him feel a little nervous. And when he met the other party's leader, he became even more nervous. The company wanted to make some vests and asked him to print something about cows on the vests, and asked if he could do it. Before this, Huang Yuenan didn't know how clothes were produced, let alone how to print pictures, text and other content on clothes, so he had to answer the other party tremblingly: This matter can't be done.

Just like that, in less than two minutes, the other party sent Huang Yuenan away.

It took more than half a year to make 18 suits

After Huang Yuenan got married in 1995, he felt that it was time for him to do something serious. So, while running his business, he persuaded Teacher Yang Genhai to open a clothing company with him.

Huang Yuenan and others started their own business and received strong support from Ding Baohe, the director of the Gentleman's Shirt Factory at the time. "The policy given at that time was to raise funds, be responsible for profits and losses, and operate independently." Speaking of his entrepreneurial journey that year, Huang Yuenan was deeply moved: "We rented a house of more than 20 square meters and 5 sewing machines. At the same time, we spent a lot of money. They bought three irons for a few hundred yuan and borrowed a few cases. That was all they had at the time."

What Huang Yuenan didn't expect was that before the company officially opened, they received the first call. One business deal.

It turns out that Teacher Yang Genhai knew a clerk in the Administration Bureau of the National Defense University. When the clerk heard that Teacher Yang had founded a clothing factory (called Gentlemen's Suit Factory at the time), he ordered 18 custom-made suits for the leaders of the school. A list of three-piece suits was given to them.

After receiving this order, Huang Yuenan and the others were both happy and scared, because no one among them knew how to do it. There was no other way but to hire experts quickly! Huang Yuenan and the others began to look around.

After a long time, Huang Yuenan and the others finally found a master named Zhang. Master Zhang is in his 70s and is said to have made clothes for national leaders. Later, through the introduction of Master Zhang, Huang Yuenan found Master Tang, who was over 60 years old and had retired from Beijing Hongdu Garment Factory.
