Huang Yuenan’s “Password Customization”

The stay-at-home life of otakus and otakus keeps more and more young people away from the hustle and bustle of shopping malls. The pursuit of individuality makes them expect to be different. Online clothing customization just conforms to this trend. Huang Vietnam relied on his original password customization method to firmly grasp this trend and create a world of his own. And he firmly believes that as long as we grasp this trend, we will definitely grasp an era.

In the current era of pursuing individuality, many people uphold a sense of self, individuality, and unique traits, and they also pay attention to uniqueness in dressing up. However, many garments have a relatively high matching rate, so many people have begun to turn to customized garments. In recent years, with the rapid development of the Internet, the trend of online clothing shopping has quietly emerged. A new clothing sales model-online customized clothing sales has begun to become a new fashion consumption method.

Mr. Huang Yuenan, general manager of Beijing Kushen Clothing Co., Ltd., used the clothing customization model to carve out his own world in the clothing field.

Graduate student resigned and went to work

Huang Yuenan is a typical southerner. He is not tall, has slightly bald hair, and wears a pair of black-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose. The initial impression he gave the reporter was: he He should be a scholar-type boss. Because in addition to his appearance, there are many papers he published on the Internet. Those articles not only involve business management, but also include branding, human resources management, product quality management, etc. Each article exudes this young clothing boss’s understanding of the market and management. Think carefully.

In mid-September, the reporter made a special trip to visit Mr. Huang Yuenan, whom he had known for a long time on the Internet.

When talking about the original intention of starting a business, Huang Yuenan joked that he only went to sea so that he could afford a wife. "In 1992, the monthly salary for a master's degree was only 96 yuan. But at that time, it would cost at least 20,000 to 30,000 yuan to buy a color TV, a refrigerator, and other major items for marriage. In total, I would have to work for 20 years before I could marry a wife. So, , had to go to sea."

In 1993, Huang Yuenan quit his job and came to Zhongguancun. At first, he worked part-time and earned 20 yuan per day.

Shortly afterwards, Huang Yuenan came to the Beijing branch of a startup company to promote a two-stroke input method that was easy to learn and had few repetitive codes. "When the product was first introduced to the market, it went very smoothly. However, due to problems in operation and management, the product eventually disappeared from the market." Huang Yuenan told reporters that in fact, that product had obvious advantages compared with the Wubi font. Therefore, he realized at that time: if a good product cannot be operated, it will still not be able to create value for society.

Don’t want to be a “foreign slave”

With a master’s degree in food and a few simple words in Japanese, Huang Yuenan was lucky enough to get an opportunity to work in Japan in 1994 . "At that time, it was very fashionable and difficult to go abroad. This was indeed a good opportunity. Later, some people said that I went to Japan to study. They were trying to beautify me. Working was just working, not studying." Huang Yuenan said with a smile.

At that time, most people in China felt that going abroad was very beautiful. Especially studying abroad. In fact, only those who have been abroad know the hardships of studying abroad. After arriving in Japan, Huang Yuenan was determined to learn something. So, in addition to working hard, he worked hard to learn Japanese. At the same time, he also felt Japan's advanced management culture, such as trust in employees and pursuit of quality. These will be of great help to him in starting his own business and managing the company later.

Because of his excellent work, the Japanese boss planned to let Huang Yuenan stay in Japan for at least three years. However, Huang Yuenan, who "would rather be a local slave than a foreign slave", always felt that his motherland had trained him. He should go back and do something for the country, so a year later he left Japan on the pretext of returning home to fulfill his filial piety.

After returning to China, Huang Yuenan and a classmate first set up a training room in the China Agricultural University to teach computer DIY, Wubi fonts, Founder typesetting, etc. Because they were not registered with the industrial and commercial department, they were later sued by a competitor. The industrial and commercial office drove a truck and raided their company.

Subsequently, Huang Yuenan, who had nothing to do, had to continue looking for a job. At a job fair, he submitted a resume and applied for an assistant store manager job at a Japanese fast food restaurant. The answer he got was: "Your conditions are too high. We can't use it in our store. Let's see if the head office wants anyone." At that time, he was naive and didn't know that this was a polite rejection, so he waited in confusion for a long time.

Getting involved in the clothing industry

Huang Yuehai came to Gentleman Shirt Factory (today Gentleman Group) through the recommendation of his university class teacher Yang Genhai.

Because he knew computers, Huang Yuenan was sent to implement informatization of warehouse management. The factory director placed him in the finance department, but the finance department pushed him to the warehouse. There were already a lot of people in the warehouse, so Huang Yuenan had to help the workers select and move shirts.

Huang Yuenan did not implement informatization of warehouse management. After working as a porter for a while, he obtained the permission of the factory director and became a supernumerary salesperson. Before he finished the formalities and walked out of the factory gate, the BP machine rang. Oh my god, the first business is here.

The girlfriend of a junior student of Huang Yuenan worked in a state-owned construction company. Their unit held an event and wanted to give out some ties to everyone. When they learned that Huang Yuenan worked at the Gentleman's Shirt Factory, they found him. Upon receiving this information, Huang Yuenan was so happy that he immediately picked out silk, polyester and other tie samples. Go straight to that company.

Because we have acquaintances, the business was settled quickly. From this business, Mr. Huang Yuenan made more than 20,000 yuan.

The first business greatly inspired Huang Yuenan's confidence. He was full of interest in placing orders for work clothes and began to run around for this purpose. During this period, he traveled to countless units, and one incident among them remained fresh in his mind.

One day, Huang Yuenan heard from a friend that there was a dairy company in Pinggu that wanted work clothes, so he decided to talk to the leader of that company.

When Huang Yuenan arrived at the company, it was during working hours and everyone else was busy. He was arranged to wait for the leader in the lobby alone, which made him feel a little nervous. And when he met the other party's leader, he became even more nervous. The company wanted to make some vests and asked him to print something about cows on the vests, and asked if he could do it. Before this, Huang Yuenan didn't know how clothes were produced, let alone how to print pictures, text and other content on clothes, so he had to answer the other party tremblingly: This matter can't be done.

Just like that, in less than two minutes, the other party sent Huang Yuenan away.

It took more than half a year to make 18 suits

After Huang Yuenan got married in 1995, he felt that it was time for him to do something serious. So, while running his business, he persuaded Teacher Yang Genhai to open a clothing company with him.

Huang Yuenan and others started their own business and received strong support from Ding Baohe, the director of the Gentleman's Shirt Factory at the time. "The policy given at that time was to raise funds, be responsible for profits and losses, and operate independently." Speaking of his entrepreneurial journey that year, Huang Yuenan was deeply moved: "We rented a house of more than 20 square meters and 5 sewing machines. At the same time, we spent a lot of money. They bought three irons for a few hundred yuan and borrowed a few cases. That was all they had at the time."

What Huang Yuenan didn't expect was that before the company officially opened, they received the first call. One business deal.

It turns out that Teacher Yang Genhai knew a clerk in the Administration Bureau of the National Defense University. When the clerk heard that Teacher Yang had founded a clothing factory (called Gentlemen's Suit Factory at the time), he ordered 18 custom-made suits for the leaders of the school. A list of three-piece suits was given to them.

After receiving this order, Huang Yuenan and the others were both happy and scared, because no one among them knew how to do it. There was no other way but to hire experts quickly! Huang Yuenan and the others began to look around.

After a long time, Huang Yuenan and the others finally found a master named Zhang. Master Zhang is in his 70s and is said to have made clothes for national leaders. Later, through the introduction of Master Zhang, Huang Yuenan found Master Tang, who was over 60 years old and had retired from Beijing Hongdu Garment Factory.

It is not enough to have a master, you also need a processing factory (at that time, Huang Yuenan and others did not even think of it, nor did they have the ability to process and produce it themselves). So, they found a clothing processing factory and reached an intention to cooperate. Now, Huang Yuenan thought he could finally take a breath. Who knew what would happen next made him even more depressed.
