The school was formerly known as Bowen School of Management of Guilin University of Technology. It was founded in April 2002 and was formerly known as Bowen School of Management of Guilin University of Technology. In 2009, Guilin Institute of Technology was renamed Guilin University of Technology, and Guilin Institute of Technology Bowen School of Management was subsequently renamed Guilin University of Technology Bowen School of Management. In 2021, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was independently established as an undergraduate-level private general higher education institution - Nanning Institute of Technology.
