Weifang City is located in the middle of the Shandong Peninsula and has a coastline of 140 kilometers. According to the "Weifang Port Master Plan", four port areas are planned within the jurisdiction of Weifang Port, namely: Weifang Port East, Middle and West Port Areas and Inland River Port Area. Weifang Port Middle Port Area is operated by Weifang Sime Darby Port Co., Ltd. It is located on the south bank of Laizhou Bay in the Bohai Sea, on the west side of Bailang River, with geographical coordinates of 37°14'N, 119°11'E. The port area started construction on May 13, 1996, and was completed and put into trial operation on October 21, 1998. Two 5,000-ton berths and five 3,000-ton berths have been built. The dock shoreline is 895 meters long and the designed throughput capacity is 2.89 million tons. Category I ports are open ports. The inland river port area of ??Weifang Port is operated by the Yangkou Port Authority. It is located on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Xiaoqing River in the north of Yangkou Town, Shouguang City. The port is about 20 kilometers away from the river entrance, and its geographical location is 37°16’N, 118°53’E. There are currently 4 1,000-ton berths, a quay shoreline of 400 meters, and a designed handling capacity of 600,000 tons.

On September 5, 2005, Weifang Port Co., Ltd. and Sime Darby Group of Malaysia jointly established Weifang Sime Darby Port Co., Ltd. Sime Darby Group invested RMB 1.5 billion to build a 10,000-ton terminal and 10,000-ton waterway and wave-proof and sand-blocking embankment projects.
