Brief introduction of Liangping airport

Liangping Airport, formerly known as Liangshan Airport, was the main battle base of the Flying Tigers during World War II, guarding Chongqing as the capital and bombing Tokyo, Japan, which was famous at home and abroad. Liangshan Airport, located at 1 km north of liangping county (formerly known as Liangshan County), was built by Liu Xiang, the commander of 2 1 army in charge of Sichuan at that time, in order to build an air defense line in the southwest. 1937 after the outbreak of the anti-Japanese war, Liangshan military airport became the closest airport to the Japanese outpost in the rear area. A large number of air force fighters from China, the United States and the Soviet Union entered Liangshan Airport and fought bravely against the Japanese invaders. They fought with enemy planes for more than five years and made great achievements.

1In the early summer of 944, at the request of the US military, China urgently recruited more than 40,000 migrant workers to expand the airport, and Liangshan Airport became one of the most suitable airports for B-29 take-off and landing in Asia at that time.

After liberation, Liangping Airport became the training base of China People's Liberation Army Air Force pilots, and the first batch of all-weather fighter pilots in China were trained here, thus Yang Liwei, the "first person in China's space flight", stood out.
