Dalian Medical University is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian, and the campus is located in the middle section of the scenic coastal sightseeing belt of Lushun South Road. The school covers an area of 15 1 10,000 square meters, with a building area of 380,000 square meters and 45 single buildings. Founded in 1947, 1994 was renamed Dalian Medical University, which is a key medical university in Liaoning Province. After more than 60 years of development, the school has now become a medical university with medicine as the mainstay and science, engineering, management, literature and law developing together.

The two affiliated hospitals directly under the school are three-level first-class hospitals with more than 4,000 beds. The two affiliated hospitals have reached the domestic leading level in multi-slice spiral CT coronary angiography, catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and treatment of acute abdomen with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. Cerebral vascular interventional thrombolysis and organ transplantation have also entered the advanced ranks in China.

The school was recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and was rated as excellent in the new round of undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education of China in 2008. In 2009, the school became a scholarship institution of China government to train international students for China.

The school has carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad, and established cooperative relations with 100 institutions of higher learning and 38 research institutions in 38 countries and regions, including new york State University, Okayama University and Curtin University of Science and Technology.

The school attaches great importance to active exchanges and cooperation with well-known universities and scientific research institutions in Taiwan Province Province, and has successively established close cooperative relations with universities such as China University of Medicine in Taiwan Province Province, Taipei Medical University and Tsinghua University in Taiwan Province Province. At present, more than 200 students from Taiwan Province Province have graduated. In June 2008, Taiwan Province Alumni Association was established in Taiwan Province Province.
