Zhicheng was once the county seat of Zhijiang County in history. However, in some historical periods, such as the Qing Dynasty, the county seat of Zhijiang County moved to Majiadian, making Zhicheng no longer a county seat.

In addition, Yidu and Zhijiang once belonged to the same county-Yidu County in history. But with the passage of time, these areas gradually separated, and finally formed Yidu and Zhijiang two different counties.

Due to the above historical reasons, Zhicheng was classified as Yidu in administrative division.
