The difference between rural village committees and urban community neighborhood committees

Villagers' committees are rural grass-roots self-smelting organizations under the jurisdiction of towns and villages, with a village director, a deputy director and 5 to 7 members directly elected by all the voters. The general term of office is three years, and can be re-elected. Members of village committees are generally divided into mediation directors, public security directors, militia battalion commanders, league branch secretaries and women directors. Village committees belong to local autonomous organizations, and their members are not state cadres. Their salaries are paid by the government and solved by themselves.

Neighborhood committees are grass-roots organizations of urban neighborhood offices. The residents' committee shall work under the guidance of the Municipal People's Government, the Municipal People's Government without districts or its sub-district offices. The relevant departments of the municipal and municipal people's governments may also provide operational guidance to the relevant sub-committees of the residents' committees. If these units need the assistance of the residents' committees or their subordinate committees, they shall obtain the consent of the people's governments of cities and municipal districts or their dispatched offices and make unified arrangements. Residents' committees are established according to the living conditions of residents and the principle of facilitating residents' autonomy. Generally 100 ~ 700 households have a residents' committee. The residents' committee is composed of a chairman, vice-chairmen and 5-9 members. The chairman, vice-chairman and members are elected by all the residents or representatives of each household who have the right to vote in this area; According to the opinions of residents, it can also be elected by 2 ~ 3 representatives from each residents' group. Residents' committees shall set up committees for people's mediation, public security and public health as needed.
