How to choose a sideline?

I am the legendary player of "fishing for three days and drying the net for two days" and "poor stationery".

I used to do data analysis in the purchasing department of a listed company, but I was very resistant to this job, so I hope to make money through sideline business and then resign. However, those sideline businesses I worked hard to carry out not only didn't make me any money, but they were severely cut off for blindly reporting for sideline training classes.

At the beginning, I saw the part-time recruitment of audio studios in some official WeChat accounts, that is, recording audio novels and dubbing some audio platforms. In these recruitment contents, there will always be some advertisements, claiming that "you don't have to attend classes, you can get started with tens of thousands of monthly income", and then guide you to sign up for training courses. Advertising will also say that light broadcasting is not enough, but also editing and post-editing, so that you can upload a complete work and guide you to report to the post-editing training class simultaneously.

I was very interested in this job at that time, so I spent more than 7000 yuan to sign up. After class, I found that very few people can really do broadcasting as a sideline through training.

First, because this job is advertised as "zero threshold" by them, there are many people who apply for classes and there is great competition; Second, if you really want to be competent for this job, you should not just take classes. You need to practice for several hours every day, at least for half a year. People with full-time jobs have little time and it is difficult to persevere. At that time, I often practiced tongue twisters secretly when my boss was away, but I didn't stick to it in the end.

Later, I signed up for a writing training class and wanted to develop writing into a sideline. But when I was in class, I found that the course content was very shallow and boring. My classmates are grandparents, and the homework they hand in is nonsense doggerel, which makes me very suspicious of life.

I also participated in an offline training course on soft-fitting design, which cost more than 65438+100000. Design-related sideline needs a certain painting or design foundation. Unless you are really a talented player, it is basically impossible to learn from scratch and get started quickly after work. However, the training course of "cutting leeks" will pack the barriers to these jobs very low.

After this round of sideline training courses, I have spent 20,000 to 30,000 yuan, but I have learned nothing.

Later, I found out that I was not that interested in these jobs at all. At that time, I was just in a mood and state of wanting to escape from work very much, eager to find an exit for myself. After that, I changed to another industry, gained a sense of accomplishment through my own work, had more free time, and my income was relatively stable, so I didn't have the heart to think about sideline business.

In retrospect, my only profitable sideline experience was to provide industry-related analysis for a consulting organization, and I earned 2000 yuan, which was also based on the knowledge reserve and accumulation I gained in my main business.

I believe that people who can do a good job in sideline business must have a * * * nature, that is, they can persist. Before starting a sideline, you must be mentally prepared, you may spend a lot of energy on it; More importantly, you should really know why you want to do a sideline, whether it is to make money or out of love.

If it's just to make money, then try to develop sideline business on the basis of the main business as much as possible, and only with knowledge or skill reserves can you get a faster return on income. If it is out of love, do it according to your own interests, but you must lower your expectations. When your interest turns into work, you may soon lose your enthusiasm.
