In recent years, with the promotion of children's reading, the domestic children's picture book market has gradually become lively. However, behind the surface prosperity, there has always been the problem of "more imported editions and lack of originals". It is not easy to have excellent original works, but they can only be imported again after being published abroad. What happened to China’s original picture books? Is it a problem of the quality of the authors or a problem of the publishing industry? How can original picture books truly prosper? In fact, the lack of original picture books is determined by the overall reading situation in the country. The decision-making power of purchasing children's books mainly lies in the hands of parents. Although more and more parents are aware of the impact of reading on their children's future, it is generally more utilitarian. Parents hope that through reading, their children will become literate early or improve their academic performance, rather than reading. Experience the joy of reading itself. Some parents believe that "a book cannot be a book without words", and buying a book means buying "words". However, picture books are all pictures and there are not many words. Some parents simply don't know how to let their children read. It can be seen that there are certain misunderstandings about picture books in China.
