Fenghuang county is located at the edge of Wuling mountain range with mountainous terrain.
Fenghuang county has a long history. According to Fenghuang Hall, before Xia and Zhou Dynasties, the county was the land of Wushan Miao people. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it belonged to the State of Chu, in the middle of Guizhou. In the 30th year of Qin Zhaowang (the first 277 years), Qianzhong County was built, where Fenghuang County was located.
