This is the largest temple in Xi 'an, with an area more than twice that of Daxing Shan Temple, but few people know about it.

In the east of Xi, near Bailuyuan in Baqiao District, there is a temple called Yanggeda Village that everyone is not familiar with. Although the popularity is not high, the scale of the temple is not small. From a distance, the buildings are scattered on the hillside, and the bright temple buildings are hidden among the trees, which looks very artistic.

Approaching the temple, judging from the couplets at the door, the Great Amitabha Temple should be a pure land temple. From a distance, I don't think so When I walked in, I found that the temple was really big.

The north slope of Bailuyuan is steep, with a height difference of 200-300 meters from Bahe Canyon. This temple occupies almost two thirds of this hillside, and it is said to cover nearly 300 mu, which is more than double that of Daxing Shan Temple 120 mu. A dedicated road has been built in the temple, which can always lead to Mahayana Hall on Banpo.

The great Amitabha Temple was built in a U-shaped cave in Bailuyuan. Some people say it is like a "seat", and the temple relies on the "seat" and faces the Ba River Valley.

Due to the terrain, the layout of this temple is different from other temples. The first Buddhist temple people see after entering the temple is the hall of the king of earth treasure. Next to the King's Hall of Earth Treasure, there is a main shaft extending to the hillside. On this axis, there are the Heavenly King Hall and the Guanyin Hall.

However, more buildings are irregularly scattered according to the terrain, such as Buddhist temples and monk's houses. Because the yard is too big, there are only sand roads between buildings, and the places where flowers and trees are not planted artificially are occupied by wild weeds and shrubs. Perhaps this is the reason why the temple looks big, but it is a little empty, which is very different from the strict and regular courtyard layout of urban temples.

The most striking buildings of the Great Amitabha Temple should be Mahayana Mahayana Hall and the Tibetan Scripture Building. Daxiong Hall is towering, with double eaves resting on the top of the mountain and glazed tile Huang Cancan. It's solemn from a distance, and it's really magnificent from a close look, but the door of the hall has been closed several times.

Buddhist scripture building is a building with five small towers on the roof. There is a gravel road from the Hall of the Great Hero to the Buddhist Scripture Building. As you approach, you will find fences and iron gates blocking the place. Obviously, laymen are forbidden to visit here.

Where the Great Amitabha Temple is located, it is said that there was once a temple in history, a probation temple in the Sui Dynasty, and a magnificent temple, Yusenlie, which was later destroyed by war.

The current Damituo Temple was built in 2006 and was unveiled in August 2006. What is special about this temple is that it is a double-monk temple, that is, the Great Buddha Temple and the Buddhist temple are combined into one. It is said that the lower part of the platform is a Buddhist temple, and the upper part is a big Buddhist temple. Therefore, in the Great Amitabha Temple, you can see not only practicing monks, but also kind monks and meet many kind lay people.

Generally speaking, the Buddhist atmosphere of the Great Amitabha Temple is very strong and the environment is very good. If the courtyard is better afforested and beautified, I believe more people will come here to visit or hear Buddha's voice!
