Brief introduction of four major genres of drama:

China Opera Academy: Founded in 1950, it is a college jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and the Beijing Municipal Government to train senior professionals in traditional Chinese opera. It is the highest institution of opera education in China. China Opera Academy has two national first-class societies, the Chinese Opera Music Society and the China Opera Directors Society, and has been approved to establish a research base for the inheritance and development of Peking Opera culture.

Opera School affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy: Also known as Shanghai Opera School, it was founded in March 1954. It is a multi-genre, multi-disciplinary and comprehensive national key secondary vocational school, which is established under the direct care of the party and the government and focuses on cultivating opera performers. Among them, drama performance major is the key major in Shanghai;

Beijing Opera Art Vocational College: Beijing Opera Art Vocational College is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning approved by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education. It is the only public art vocational college in Beijing.

Tianjin Vocational College of Traditional Chinese Opera Art: The college was established on the basis of Tianjin Art School and China Northern Quyi School.
