What is the function and principle of reactor?

Function of reactor: With the expansion of power grid capacity, the rated value of system short-circuit capacity increases rapidly. For example, on the low voltage 35kV side of a 500kV substation, the maximum effective value of three-phase symmetrical short-circuit current is close to 50kA. In order to limit the short-circuit current of transmission lines and protect power equipment, reactors must be installed, which can reduce the short-circuit current and keep the system voltage unchanged at short-circuit time.

The reactor used for generator full load test is the prototype of shunt reactor. Due to the attraction of alternating magnetic field between segmented core cakes, the noise of core reactors is generally about 10dB higher than that of transformers with the same capacity. The alternating current through the shunt reactor is used to compensate the capacitive reactance of the system. Usually connected in series with thyristor, the reactance current can be continuously adjusted.

Characteristics of feed reactor:

1. The incoming reactors are three-phase, all of which are iron core dry type.

2. The iron core adopts imported high-quality low-loss cold-rolled silicon steel sheets, and the air gap is separated by epoxy laminated glass cloth to ensure that the air gap of the reactor will not change during operation.

3. The coil is wound with H-class enamelled flat copper wire, which is closely and evenly arranged, and has excellent aesthetic feeling and good heat dissipation performance without insulation.

4. After the coil and iron core of the incoming reactor are assembled into a whole, through the technological process of pre-baking → vacuum dipping paint → hot baking and curing, the coil and iron core of the reactor are firmly combined by H-class dipping paint, which not only greatly reduces the noise during operation, but also has a very high heat resistance level, which can ensure the safe and noise-free operation of the reactor at high temperature.
