Analysis of the employment situation of returnees

Recently, the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in China conducted a comprehensive employment survey of returnees. Thousands of participants, nearly 3% returned from England. The three popular majors are: business, management, economics and finance (6%), engineering and technology (8%), and hotel and tourism management (6%). 83% of the returnees said that they need the help of appropriate job vacancy information, job market analysis and job guidance. In response to this demand, the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy/Consulate recently held a seminar on the career development of alumni studying in the UK and a small job fair.

The survey results show that at present, relying on the good domestic economy, the overall employment situation of returnees is very optimistic. 74% of the respondents said that it only takes three months to find a satisfactory job. Everyone's expectations for salary are becoming more rational. Because 6% of the returnees had no work experience before going abroad, 35% of them only had a bachelor's degree, and 41% of them had a monthly salary of 3,-5,. However, most of the returnees who had a little work experience before going abroad and obtained a master's degree or above overseas had a monthly salary of 5,-8,. Compared with the survey in the same period last year, the employment destination of returnees shows a diversified trend, and the industries they engage in are mainly distributed in finance, banking, trade, logistics, advertising, public relations, media, culture, education and other industries. Returnees who choose state-owned enterprises have increased by 1%, while those who choose foreign-funded enterprises have decreased by 14%. Everyone said that overseas study experience plays a very positive role in personal career development. Compared with domestic graduates, returnees have good foreign language application ability, stronger cross-cultural communication ability and are familiar with international market operation management and affairs.

The reason that prompted returnees to return to work is not because of the grim employment situation overseas, but mainly because everyone values the rapid domestic economic development and great potential for career development, which accounts for 43% of the total survey population. In addition, 35% of returnees said that when they returned to China, they could reunite with their families. ;
