The National Student Financial Assistance Management Center belongs to the unit directly under the Ministry of Education and is a bureau-level unit.

1999 In September, with the approval of the Office of the Central Organizing Committee, the "National Student Loan Management Center" was established in the Ministry of Education, which is responsible for implementing the national student loan policy and serving as the daily office of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Group of the National Student Loan. In February 2006, in order to further improve the financial assistance for students from poor families at all levels, the Office of the Central Organization Establishment Committee approved the renaming of the National Student Loan Management Center as the National Student Financial Assistance Management Center.
