Yulin Normal University is located in Yulin City, southeastern Guangxi, an excellent tourist city in China. It is a full-time general undergraduate university directly under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and one of the four pilot universities for comprehensive reform of higher education in Guangxi. In 2016, it was selected as a partner institution in China’s “Hundred Schools Project” data compiled by the Ministry of Education.

The school’s predecessor was Guangxi Province Lilin Normal School founded in 1945. In 1952, it was renamed Yulin Normal School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Guangxi Yulin District Normal College. In 1978, Yulin Normal College was restored with the approval of the State Council. In 1994, it was renamed Yulin Normal College.

In 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Yulin Normal College, Yulin Education College, Yulin Higher Vocational and Technical College, and Guangxi Radio and Television University Yulin Branch were merged and upgraded to Yulin Normal College. In 2015, it was identified as one of the four pilot universities for comprehensive higher education reform in Guangxi.

As of March 2021, the school covers an area of ??1,746 acres. The school has 16 secondary colleges, covering 10 major disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, agriculture, and art, and 64 general undergraduate majors.

There are currently 1,484 faculty members, 1,035 full-time teachers, and 971 teachers with doctorate or master's degrees. The school currently has 17,779 full-time students and educates nearly 1,100 foreign students.
