A proposal on deforestation

To the vast number of environmental friends and environmental organizations:

We live on the only earth, but what is more direct and effective vegetation for the renewal of the earth's environment? That's the forest.

Forest is the largest terrestrial ecosystem on the earth, an important part of the global biosphere, a gene pool, a carbon pool, a water storage pool and an energy pool on the earth, which plays a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of our whole earth and is also the only habitat for human survival.

Forest trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which plays a leading role in purifying our living environment. The forest "lung of the earth", which embodies the functions of water conservation, wind and sand fixation, noise reduction, climate regulation and biodiversity protection, has also attracted wide attention all over the world.

What would our world be like without forests? In addition to the well-known destruction of the ecological environment and the challenge to the living environment of human beings, in 2002, a flood in Foping, Shaanxi Province killed more than 237 people, 3 103 people were homeless, 10564 houses were destroyed, and 10 sudden flood killed 88 primary school students in Shalan Town Central Primary School, Ning 'an City, Heilongjiang Province. Due to the destruction of a large number of forest vegetation in the upper reaches and the intensification of soil erosion, catastrophic floods occurred in the Yangtze River, Songhua River and Nenjiang River basins in China from 65438 to 0998. The direct economic losses caused by the Yangtze River flood alone amounted to 300 billion yuan. If the cost of post-disaster reconstruction is added, the amount of economic "compensation" will be even more amazing. Therefore, we can't ignore the importance of forest ecosystem in any case.

Globally, there are 3.86 billion hectares of forests, accounting for about 30% of the world's land area. China's forest area is1.200 million hectares, accounting for about 1.3% of the national territory, which is far from the world average of 22%. With the advent of economy and society, the market demand for wood is expanding. Some lawless elements illegally cut down trees in disregard of the government's control. Some government agencies even condone and even participate in such incidents for personal benefit. As individuals, we may not be able to achieve a magnificent world and create an immortal manor, but we can contribute to our forest protection with our own practical actions. Here, we propose:

First, resist disposable wooden tableware and consciously choose to use degradable or recyclable tableware.

Second, protect rare tree species and choose appropriate wooden furniture.

We look small, but we are full of energy; One of our actions seems insignificant, but it leads future generations. The earth is our common home. Only when we join hands, like the Ying Ge Mountain Youth Team and the Piracy Notes Team, and consciously participate in the action of "protecting forests and resisting deforestation" with the most sincere and enthusiastic attitude, can we protect and build this land that has nurtured us well. I believe I am not alone. Behind us are all China people with conscience and all environmentalists in action!
