Recently, a piece of news that "A manager of Aramark is recruiting a female secretary and asks to live in the same room" spread like wildfire. The reason was that a netizen from Zhejiang posted an article saying that he encountered unreasonable requirements when applying for a job at Aramark: the position was a personal secretary, and he needed to share a double room in a hotel when traveling on business.
On April 10, a reporter from the Xiaoxiang Morning News (reported on WeChat: xxcbbaoliao) called Aramark’s Beijing headquarters several times but no one answered. However, the reporter learned that the incident occurred in March this year, and Aramark officially issued a statement stating that it had terminated the contract with the employee involved.
The recruitment requirements exposed by Zhejiang netizens show that the recruiter is a manager named Xu, and the department is the business department. The position that Manager Xu is recruiting for is a personal secretary, which requires him to travel a lot across the country. Mainly in Hangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen, I spend three weeks out of town for three weeks every month, and work from home for the remaining month. But considering the cost of business travel, hotels in most cities require you to share a double room with him.
After the matter was exposed, many netizens said that they could not accept it and should complain directly to the head office. Some netizens also joked that they can’t afford to open a hotel for business trips. Are they sure they have the ability to recruit people?
On the afternoon of April 10, a Xiaoxiang Morning News reporter called Aramark’s Beijing headquarters several times, but the extension numbers showed no response. However, on March 20, a statement issued by Aramark China showed that on the afternoon of March 19, the company learned and verified that an employee had engaged in inappropriate language with online job seekers under the guise of recruitment; his behavior had seriously violated Company Employee Code of Conduct and Recruitment Policies and Social Media Policy. On March 20, the company gave the employees involved disciplinary sanctions of immediate termination of their labor contracts.
At the end, Aramark also stated that it will have zero tolerance for people and events that violate business ethics and the code of conduct.
