The Jiangsu section of the high-speed railway along the Yangtze River in the north is expected to be completed in 2027, and the cross-river channel from Qidong to Shanghai is expected to be completed in 2029. The north high-speed railway along the Yangtze River, that is, the Shanghai-Hefei section of the high-speed railway along the Yangtze River, starts from Shanghai Baoshan Station and connects with Hefei South Station via Suzhou, Nantong, Taizhou, Yangzhou, Nanjing, Chuzhou and Hefei, Anhui. The length of the main line is 553.762km, the design speed is 350km/h, and there are 16 stations on the whole line. Among them, the new line is 5 19.0 km.

The high-speed railway along the river in the north is the backbone of the medium and long-term "eight vertical and eight horizontal" railway network planning, and an important part of the coastal and Beijing-Shanghai auxiliary passages.
