BD and sales

We often see that HR information is for BD managers and BD directors on major recruitment websites, WeChat groups and QQ groups, but we are dumbfounded at the sight of job responsibilities, since it is not much different from sales responsibilities.

Sometimes, responsibilities are more general. In the real interview, HR and department heads will talk about their responsibilities in more detail, and then you will listen more and more like the responsibilities of sales, which is completely different from what I said before.

In fact, according to the difference of each company's industry, strategy, consciousness and scale, there is not much difference between BD and sales of this company. Each industry has different names and does different things. So I often find that I am a BD but I am talking about cooperation with a salesperson instead of BD.

Everyone's understanding of BD is different, which leads some people to think that BD and sales are very different, while others think that the difference is very small, which is caused by many factors. Personally, I think what BD often does is to save money for the company, not to make money. BD does indirect conversion into money, while sales do direct conversion into money.

With the development, I think BD can be divided into three categories: channel BD, replacement BD and sales BD. Each type has different responsibilities in different companies. A few years ago, perhaps only replacing BD can be called a real BD, because it really won't produce money transactions.

Speaking of which, if you are replacing BD, I can give you a little trick here to prevent the "harassment" of sales. If he adds you to WeChat or QQ, you can directly ask his company first and judge whether it is what you need from his company name. If you don't know, add a friend and ask him about his needs in detail, which is clear at a glance. No matter what your occupation is, treat every BD around you well (no matter what type), or that sentence may help you one day.
