Currently, the internship period will be promoted to the third level in December, but there is news that the Maritime Safety Administration will change it to 18 months. How and when it will be implemented is not yet known.

The wages of seafarers are relatively high. The monthly salary of the third-level ocean-going (Category A) crew is generally more than 10,000 points, which varies according to the tonnage and route of the ship. During the internship period, you can work as a shift assistant or a machinist (you need to take the machinist certificate again), and the salary is more than 4,000 yuan. Since Chinese seafarers are not even close to the average wage level in Asia, there will definitely be room for improvement in the future!

To be promoted to a third-level supervisor, you only need to obtain a certificate of competency for a third-level supervisor before graduation and become a full-time employee after the internship period. This is the test for both junior colleges and undergraduates. However, for general undergraduates and a few junior colleges (Guangzhou Maritime School, Qingdao Ocean, etc.), the competency certificate only requires 3 main subjects, and other 7 subjects.

The reputation of a school definitely has an impact on employment, because companies usually recruit more students from schools that are well-known or have agreements with them.

At present, due to the crisis, ordinary crew members are almost saturated, and there is still a shortage of senior crew members (3rd rank and above). After the crisis, the crew market will definitely pick up!
