The Historical Evolution of Li Baochun United World College.

Li Baochun United World College was established in 1978. At that time, Sir Li Guowei, Chairman of the National Committee of United World College in Hong Kong, was responsible for selecting Hong Kong students to study in United World College overseas (UWC). He deeply recognized the talents and contributions of graduates of United World College, and continued to support the activities of the College after 1982 left office, hoping to establish the United World College in China.

Sir Guo Weili, then the chairman of Hang Seng Bank, and Li Zhaozeng, who owns Li Baochun's charitable trust established by his family, first proposed to establish United World College in Hong Kong on 1987, which was warmly supported by Sir Wilson, then the governor of Hong Kong, and david sutcliffe, the president of Atlantic United World College, and established "Lord Wilson United World College" in the name of Wilson.

Members of the Preparatory Committee visited the United World College overseas and had a long and detailed discussion with the government on several locations in future academy. So, they chose a large piece of land located in Baishisha. In the early years, it was the quarry of Plover Bay Freshwater Lake Dam (the slope behind the current indoor gymnasium witnessed the traces of quarrying), and it was granted a 50-year lease with the consent of the Sino-British Land Commission on the eve of the handover of power. At that time, the area was very remote, facing Tolo Harbour and backed by Maanshan Country Park, and there were no large-scale community development and transportation facilities nearby.

The first employee hired was Dr. David Wilkinson, the first principal of the school. At first, he could only work in a hotel suite in Sha Tin. Later, he was appointed as the first president of United World College in Ma Xuan.

During his tenure, the college has steadily developed and expanded according to the concept of United World College, and its academic accumulation has gradually improved, making it one of the best colleges in the world for IB examination of United World College. The Blair Foster Memorial Trust Fund provides scholarships in the name of the late headmaster to help young people in East Timor.

Dr Guo Lin Ke Ling became the new headmaster in May 2004. In April 2000, Sir Li Guowei stepped down as the chairman of the school board and was replaced by the former Director of Education, Li Yueting.

In August, 1965, Dr. arnett Edward succeeded Dr. Guo Lin as the president of the school.
