United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), formerly known as "United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund" Foundation" was created on December 11, 1946, with the original purpose of meeting the urgent needs of children in Europe and China after World War II.

Since 1950, its work has expanded to meet the long-term needs of children and mothers in all developing countries around the world. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent member of the United Nations system and was entrusted by the United Nations General Assembly to realize the rights to survival, development, protection and participation of mothers, infants and children in all countries around the world. In 1965, UNICEF won the Nobel Peace Prize for "promoting brotherhood among nations." On November 21, 2017, the Chinese government donated US$2 million to UNICEF to assist children affected by drought in Somalia.
