What are the employment prospects of international relations majors?

I am a graduate of this major and one of the 985 universities. Personally, I feel that the employment prospects of this major depend on the following factors:

First, gender, this major makes it easier for boys to find jobs than girls. I remember when we graduated, boys had several offer, but it was quite difficult for girls to find jobs. Because jobs related to this major generally only recruit boys.

Second, the research direction. Many companies will ask you about your detailed research direction when recruiting, such as the direction of international law or the history of international relations.

Other factors are similar to other majors, such as appearance, language expression ability and written writing level as a liberal arts student, leadership positions in practical activities and scientific research level.

Generally speaking, there are not many jobs in international relations, such as the Security Bureau or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (but these positions require civil servants) or scientific research units. Most people are looking for jobs unrelated to their major. Many people in our class have been admitted to civil servants, banks, or state-owned enterprises and institutions. Of course, most of them are boys.
