Shenzhen. Most of Shenzhen's population is from other places, and there are not many original residents. This means that Shenzhen's xenophobia will be relatively low. Although it is in the Pearl River Delta, people in Shenzhen generally speak fluent Mandarin and do not speak various dialects like other cities. Dialect is the cultural wealth of a place, but to a certain extent, it is also a means of exclusion.

Sometimes when I ask for directions outside, I ask for directions in Mandarin, and they all give me directions in the vernacular. It's okay if you understand, but it's really uncomfortable if you don't understand. Especially if you want to develop here for a long time, knowing Cantonese will have obvious advantages over not knowing Cantonese.

In many recruitment positions, job fairs for companies in Guangzhou require people to speak Cantonese, but those in Shenzhen do not.

In the past few years, Shenzhen's economic development has been much faster than that of Guangzhou. Maybe within a few years, Shenzhen's GDP will surpass Guangzhou's. This means that there are many more opportunities for development in Shenzhen than in Guangzhou. Shenzhen's inclusiveness to the immigrant population and its rapid economic development give young people more room for development. Shenzhen is a super-fast maglev train. Anyone who can catch this train and find a seat on the train, or who can occupy a seat in front of the toilet or on the wash basin, will not be easy, and the future will be bright.

Whether it was the reform and opening up in the 1980s or the current 21st century, Shenzhen has more development opportunities than Guangzhou.

But, having said that, if you want to develop in Shenzhen, take root in Shenzhen, and then buy a house in Shenzhen, it is quite difficult. Housing prices in Shenzhen are so high that they surpass Guangzhou and rank third in the country, second only to Shanghai and Beijing. They are simply out of reach.
