Industrial development in Chaozhou Town

The industries in Chaozhou area are mainly manufacturing. There was a slight increase from 1965 to 1970. However, after 1970, the number of companies declined slightly, but the number of employees still increased. By the end of 1975, there were 5 mining companies with 29 employees, 279 manufacturing companies with 4,968 employees, and 49 construction companies with 679 employees, most of which were concentrated in Chaozhou Town. Among them, the main ones are food manufacturing (84 companies), metal manufacturing (58 companies), wood and bamboo furniture manufacturing (34 companies), and textile industry (30 companies). In addition, according to the 1975 Industrial and Commercial Census data, the average number of employees per factory in Chaozhou is 17.6, and there is some informal outsourcing network (about 14.4), which are small and medium-sized processing plants.
