Huaneng Hainan Power Generation Co., Ltd. is an industrial company under China Huaneng Group, which is responsible for the investment, operation and management of Huaneng's power enterprises in Hainan. Hainan Power Generation Company is the main power generation enterprise in Hainan Power Grid. Haikou and Nanshan power plants have a total installed capacity of 1342 MW, accounting for about 60% of the total installed capacity of Hainan power grid, and the annual power generation accounts for about 70% of Hainan power grid. Hainan Dongfang Power Plant, which belongs to Huaneng Hainan Power Generation Company, is a key energy project in Hainan Province during the 11th Five-Year Plan. It is a newly-built power plant wholly owned by Huaneng Hainan Power Generation Company. It is planned to have four 350MW supercritical coal-fired generating units with total installed capacity 1400MW. The first phase of the project consists of two 350MW units, and it is planned to realize "double investment" in the first half of 2009 and the end of 2009. The project adopts advanced equipment and technology at home and abroad, and will become a modern thermal power plant with the largest single unit capacity, high efficiency, simplicity, energy saving and environmental protection in Hainan Province after completion.
