Yancheng belongs to Jiangsu Province. Located in the eastern coast of China, north-central Jiangsu Province, the north wing of the Yangtze River Delta. It is the largest prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, with an urban area of 1.7 million square kilometers. Among them, the municipal area is 1.779 square kilometers and the population is 72 1.600. Yancheng borders the Yellow Sea in the east, Nantong in the south, Yangzhou and Taizhou in the southwest, Huai 'an in the northwest and Lianyungang in the north. The city is known as the "land of plenty" because of its flat terrain, vertical and horizontal canals and rich products. Yancheng is the hometown of red-crowned cranes and elk. There are two national nature reserves, Elk and Red-crowned Crane, on the coastal beach, which are known as the "Oriental Wetland Capital". Yancheng is the main birthplace of Huai Opera. Yancheng is a new industrial and commercial city along Jiangsu coast, and also an important regional central city in the Yangtze River Delta.
