Tianjin Medical University (TMU), located in Tianjin, is a national "double-class" university jointly established by Tianjin Municipal People's Government, National Health and Wellness Commission and Ministry of Education.

Tianjin Medical University, the predecessor of Tianjin Medical College, was founded in 195 1, which is a higher medical college approved by the Administrative Bureau of the Central People's Government. On June 1994, Tianjin Medical College and Tianjin Second Medical College merged to form Tianjin Medical University. 1996, the school was identified as the national "2 1 1 project" key construction university. 20 15 10 became a university established by Tianjin Municipal People's Government, National Health and Wellness Commission and Ministry of Education.

Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1958, formerly known as Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2006, it was renamed Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 20 17, the school entered the ranks of world-class universities and first-class discipline construction universities. In 2020, the school became a university jointly established by Tianjin Municipal People's Government, Ministry of Education and state administration of traditional chinese medicine. In 2022, the school became the second round of "double first-class" construction colleges and universities.

As of September 2022, the school covers an area of more than 2,600 mu with a building area of 600,000 square meters. There are 12 colleges, 4 departments and 3 1 undergraduate majors.
