Quanzhou Normal University was renamed.

Zhu Shize, a representative of Quanzhou Municipal People's Congress, submitted a proposal on developing vocational education oriented by industry and promoting the construction of regional high-level application-oriented universities during the two sessions of the provincial people's congress. He suggested that Quanzhou Normal University be renamed as Quanzhou University and incorporated into the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" of Fujian universities to build a high-level, distinctive and multidisciplinary application-oriented university in Quanzhou.

Quanzhou Teachers College is located in Quanzhou, one of the three central cities in Fujian Province. Established with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2000, the school is the first newly-built local provincial undergraduate college in Fujian Province, which was formed by the merger of Quanzhou Normal School founded by 1923, Nan 'an Normal School of 1939, Quanzhou Education College of195 and Quanzhou Normal College of 1958.

In 2004, it passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. 20 1 1, approved the training of graduate students as pilot units. 20 12 Fujian overseas Chinese education base was approved. The first batch of "20 1 1 Collaborative Innovation Center" and Fujian Graduate Education Innovation Base were approved in 20 13. 20 16 passed the examination and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. Since 20 17, it has been approved as a "double-class" construction university in Fujian Province, a demonstration application-oriented undergraduate university in Fujian Province, a master's degree awarding and training unit in Fujian Province, a pilot university for comprehensive reform of "three-round education" in Fujian Province, and a demonstration university for innovation, entrepreneurship and creative education in Fujian Province, and has been approved to recruit undergraduate and master's degree qualifications for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The school won many high-level honorary titles, such as National National Defense Education Characteristic School, Fujian May 1st Labor Award, Safe Campus and so on, and won the Eighth Provincial Civilized School (Civilized Campus). Since its establishment, it has trained more than 200,000 outstanding talents for the society and made positive contributions to the economic construction, social progress and educational development of the country and Fujian Province.
