What kinds of wool are there?

Traditional wool mainly includes cotton, hemp, silk and wool. However, with the progress of modern science, there are more and more kinds of wool, and various synthetic fibers appear, which is dazzling and dazzling. In order to fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of various kinds of wool, I sorted out and supplemented these materials, and briefly explained the characteristics and materials of each kind of wool, hoping to help the sisters who love knitting and improve their knitting skills. 1. What kinds of wool are there?

According to the material of wool, there are four kinds: wool, cotton and linen, acrylic and silk.

According to the types of wool, there are mohair, standard yarn, gold and silver thread, feather yarn, wool-like yarn, terry yarn, chenille wool and so on.

According to the thickness of wool, there are: extremely fine, slightly fine, medium fine, slightly coarse, ordinary coarse, extremely coarse and super coarse.

Secondly, the composition and characteristics of common wool are described in detail.

1, pure cotton wool

Pure cotton wool is soft and warm, does not shed hair, shrinks and deforms after washing, and the more it is worn, the less elastic it is, the worse the color fastness is, and it is easy to fade when washed at high temperature.

2, chemical fiber wool

Pure cotton wool does not shrink, feels smooth and has great elasticity. When buying, you'd better smell it with your nose first. If there is no smell, you can buy it, otherwise it will do harm to your skin. It is easy to generate static electricity, and the skin is dry and itchy when put on. The price is cheaper than pure cotton.

3. Wool blending

Wool blending is generally wool+acrylic, polyester or combed cotton. This kind of wool has good color fastness, good setting, small shrinkage and certain elasticity, but its warm-keeping effect is not as good as pure wool, and it is not pilling.

4, wool wool

Wool wool is soft, elastic, feels good and keeps warm. Rub the sweater on the cotton shirt for about 5 minutes, and then quickly separate each other. If there is no "snapping" sound, it is a real sweater. If there is a "snapping" sound or even an electrostatic spark, it is a chemical fiber fabric, not a fake sweater. The shrinkage rate of wool coat is relatively large, which is determined by the morphological structure of fiber itself. Cashmere fiber consists of scale layer and cortex. Scales have a certain height and thickness, and some edges are serrated and shaped like barbs, which easily leads to collusion and entanglement of fibers and pilling during wearing. It becomes smaller and pilling is more severe when put on. You can't be exposed to the sun. You should wash it with cold water or dry clean it.

5. cashmere

Cashmere refers to cashmere, which is a thin layer of fine hair that grows on the outer cortex of goats and covers the roots of goat coarse hair. It grows when it is cold in winter, resists the cold, falls off when it is warm in spring, and naturally adapts to the climate. Cashmere only grows on goats. Cashmere ground is very soft and warm, with good elasticity, very smooth hand feeling, and has the characteristics of wool, and at the same time, it is easy to shed wool, and the more it is washed, the thinner it becomes. But its shrinkage rate is not as high as wool. Cashmere's fiber is short, so the pilling degree is not as serious as wool's, but because of the short fiber silk, a layer of short hair will be exposed on its surface. Cashmere and wool have similar characteristics.

Many people call sheep's fine hair, which is similar to cashmere, sheep's hair. In fact, sheep wool is a kind of high quality wool.

6. Imitation cashmere

Cashmere-like yarn is made of acrylic fiber through special treatment, which makes it have the smooth, soft and elastic feel of natural cashmere and excellent dyeing performance of acrylic fiber, so it is called cashmere-like yarn. This product has brighter and richer colors than natural cashmere. However, it is still impossible to get rid of the problem of acrylic static electricity in actual wear.

7.rabbit hair

Fine hairs at the root of rabbit hair. The lint-free fiber of the invention has the advantages of fineness, strong velvet feeling, neat and smooth surface scales, and concentration of softness of cashmere and waxy smoothness of real silk. In addition, rabbit hair fiber is the medullary cavity layer with porous structure, so its warmth retention is twice that of wool, its hygroscopicity and air permeability are better than other natural fibers, and it has the health care performance of skin care. Now there are colored rabbit hair, which is much more expensive than ordinary rabbit hair.

Three, sweater needle number and wool thickness

Wool is generally divided into three types according to the number of stitches and thickness: one is high thick thread: 7-8 stitches with a width of about 3.3 cm (1 inch) and a length of about 3.3cm 8- 10, and the other is medium thick thread with a width of 3.3cm 9 stitches and a length of about 10. When weaving a pattern with these three kinds of threads, there is generally an error of 1-2 stitches, so it is necessary to increase or decrease the number of stitches according to the density of the pattern.

There are more than ten kinds of wool and their thickness. Here are some commonly used wool.

Ultra-fine: it is the finest kind of wool, which is characterized by lightness and softness. The crochet coat is most suitable for infants to knit sweaters or women to wear.

Extremely fine: the thickness is equal to 2 thinnest wool, which is light and colorful and most suitable for crochet.

Medium-fine: It is the most commonly used wool variety. Whether it is infants, women's clothes or men's clothes, it can be woven with such thick wool, and the woven patterns are meticulous and elegant.

Medium thickness: It is the most commonly used knitted winter clothes, and the woven clothes should not be too thick or too thin.

Height and thickness: it is also the best wool for weaving cold-proof clothing.

4. What kinds of wool are there?

Although there are many kinds of wool, they can be mainly divided into four categories: wool, fine wool, colored wool and factory-specific knitted wool.

Coarse wool: the linear density is about 400 tex, usually 4 strands, and the linear density of each strand is about 100 tex. The high-grade coarse wool of pure wool is spun from fine wool, which is expensive. The medium coarse wool of pure wool is made of medium wool. This kind of wool yarn has thick count, good strength and full feel. Knitted sweaters are thick and warm, and are generally used as winter clothes.

Fine wool: the linear density of strands is 167 ~ 398 tex, generally 4 strands. There are two kinds of goods: twisted wool and spherical wool (ball wool) This wool thread is dry and smooth, soft to the touch and beautiful in color. It is mainly used to knit a thin sweater, which is light and fit. Used in spring and autumn, the amount of wool is less.

Colored wool: this product has many colors and varieties, and is constantly being refurbished. Such as gold and silver clips, printing clips, large and small beads, rings, slubs, chains and other varieties. After knitting into a sweater, it has its own special charm.

Knitted wool: generally two single yarns, mostly used for weaving. This knitted sweater is light, clean, soft and slippery.
