Compass Band was founded in 1990, formerly known as "Dark Horse Band". 199 1 From Chengdu to Beijing, it was renamed Compass, which symbolizes the band's eternal love for music and unremitting pursuit of musical ideals. The band found Luo Qi, the first lead singer, Zhou Di (the soul of the band), Guo Liang, a keyboard player with rich musical literacy, and Zheng, a drummer with a sense of rhythm. Quiet and humorous bassist Yue Haokun and saxophonist Ding Yuan formed the earliest compass band, and they were the only non-Beijing rock band members in the rock music scene at that time.

They admire nature and oppose idolatry. They hope to have a free mind and more free roads for them to gallop. They care about society and hope to feel the clarity in the distance and the green of nature from the neon of reinforced concrete. They pursue the truth and abandon all fallacies, because their names mean the minimum truth.

At the beginning, the band mainly changed to sing some songs from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland. Later, in collaboration with the lyricist Robin, Zhou Di composed music and entered a new era.

At a party at the end of 1992, Luo Qi, the lead singer of the band, lost his left eye forever after an accident. Therefore, Luo Qi was in a state of panic, fear and pain for a long time, which also brought great depression to the band. For this reason, Robin and Zhou Di specially created the song "Choose Strong", which helped Luo Qi get out of the shadow of the accident and put the band back on track, and released their debut album "Choose Strong" on 1994, which received a strong response. In the same year, the band's second album No matter what happened in the past was released. In fact, it seems that this album has not been officially released, including four early songs and four tunes.

1994, lead singer Luo Qi announced his resignation. At the same time, the band introduced Liu Zhengrong, a new lead singer from Sichuan, and became a real rock band from Sichuan. The arrival of Liu Zhengrong became the new soul of the band, and gradually replaced Zhou Di's position in the band, which greatly changed the band's musical style.

1997 At the beginning of this year, Compass signed a contract with Beijing Wen Jing Audio & Video Company to record a new album. At the beginning of July, the recording and mixing of the band's latest album "Can't escape" was officially completed, the music elements were more diverse and rich, the album was released smoothly, and the Compass band entered a new beginning.
