20 17 differences between social workers and other volunteers and volunteers
Social workers (referred to as "social workers" for short) refer to professionals who follow the value concept of helping others and helping themselves and use the professional knowledge and methods of social work to provide professional social services to individuals, families, institutions and communities in need, help them to develop their potential, coordinate social relations, solve and prevent social problems and promote social justice as their main professional activities. They are an important force in modern social management and public service.
"Volunteers", also known as "volunteers", as the name implies, are people who volunteer their time, energy and skills to promote the improvement and development of society and participate in social services for free.
Social workers are essentially different from people who are generally engaged in welfare and public welfare services and volunteers or volunteers who are not dedicated to helping others:
(1) Social workers are paid, that is to say, social workers are paid, and volunteers pay their own time, energy and money. There is no salary.
(2) Social workers have professional knowledge and skills, such as case social work, such as listening skills. Although volunteers engaged in public welfare undertakings sometimes need certain methods and skills, such as medical personnel, social work is a kind of professional knowledge and technology unique to other occupations, which is different from other occupations.
(3) Social workers should follow strict professional ethics and values, and volunteers should also follow social ethics and values, but not as strict and professional as social workers. These ethics and values are what a social worker must abide by. Their regulations are very strict, and sometimes they even conflict with each other or with the overall values of society.
(4) Social workers need professional qualifications, just as lawyers need lawyer qualification certificates. The Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Civil Affairs will implement the professional level examination for social workers in June each year. Volunteers, on the other hand, do not need to be restricted by professional qualifications. As long as they are voluntary activities to help others, they can be regarded as volunteers.
(5) Therefore, the service scope of volunteers is wider than that of social workers, including a series of free activities for others and society. Social workers refer to the service activities of professional social workers.
