Historical evolution

The name of Angangxi District comes from the name of the residence. A settlement was formed in the early Qing Dynasty. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was called Ang'aqitun, and the later pronunciation changed to its current name. Ang Aqi, in Daur language, means "hunting ground". At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the China-Eastern Railway opened to traffic and established stations, and was classified as a railway annex. Because it is an important railway station in the middle of the western line of the China-Eastern Railway, commerce, industry, and transportation industries developed rapidly, forming a relatively prosperous small town. Before 1926, the total population exceeded 24,000. In 1926, the Taonang Railway was completed and opened to traffic. Many people moved to emerging cities such as Taonan and Tongliao. Especially after they became Japanese colonies, the population decreased significantly. By 1937, the city's population dropped to 13,000, from the original 4,000. There are only more than 200 Doryans left, while the number of Japanese has increased from more than 30 to more than 600. In 1938, the Puppet Manchukuo implemented the street-village system, and Angangxi became Angangxi Street in Longjiang County. After the victory of the "1993" Anti-Japanese War in 1945, in June 1946, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the newly established Longdong County, and the county government was stationed in Angangxi Street. In March 1948, Longdong County was merged into Longjiang County and the ninth district was established. In October 1952, district-level Angangxi Town was established. In October 1954, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Qiqihar City, and Angangxi District was established under the municipal jurisdiction. In August 1961, the Yushutun management area was placed under Angangxi District and renamed the Agricultural Branch. In 1973, the suburban Shuishiying Commune was placed under Angangxi District.
