Three days, eight interviews, four offers
August was a period that made me confused, entangled, and painful. A resignation, a failed job, and endless waiting and interviews. After graduation, I tried to be unemployed for the first time. Of course, there were many mistakes during the month. When I finally decided to give up a delicious meal, I discovered that everything had to start from scratch.
On the afternoon of August 18, when I dragged my exhausted body back to my "home" in Huilongguan from Baiziwan, it was already nearly six o'clock. I took off the shirt that had restrained me all day and fell on the bed. I'm exhausted, but it's not just my body that's exhausted, it's my heart as well. Before that, I had found a very "wonderful" job. I didn't have to go to work every day. I could surf the Internet at home and search for topics. Then I would go on business trips twice a month. When I came back and wrote two manuscripts, I would get tens of thousands of readers. yuan of income. It was because I found this job that I officially resigned from my previous company. However, this seemingly wonderful job was not as simple as I imagined. After trying for two weeks, my "business" has been declining. There was no progress, so I thought about whether I should find another job and give myself another way out? It is not easy to deny a plan, but looking at the increasingly dry wallet in my hand, I finally had to embark on the journey of finding a job again.
In the third week of August, I decided to get busy again. On Monday, I submitted my resume online and looked for a job, and on Tuesday, I packed up my bags and went to the battlefield. On the 18th, I interviewed for a job that I really liked in Zhongguancun in the morning. I chatted with three supervisors for nearly two hours. My initial impressions were pretty good, even though I had to jump from a director position in the media industry to an Internet technology company. I was assigned to a copywriting planning position, but I was relatively confident in myself. Since I felt that it was going well in the morning, I didn’t prepare very carefully in the afternoon. As a result, I had a hurried interview, which felt like a formality. There were two more interviews the next day, both in the media field. There were not many highlights and the impression was not deep. Then I quietly waited for news from the first company. However, a week passed and there was no news from the other party. I gradually became anxious and tried to send a WeChat message to one of the supervisors. On the day of the interview, we added each other. I also sent him some works I had written on WeChat, but then nothing happened. I understood that I might have been rejected. At the same time, several other companies had no follow-up information, and my confidence was seriously affected. of blow.
So at the end of the third week, I planned to seriously summarize the problems I had during the interview some time ago. After some analysis, I found that the problems lay in the following aspects:
< p> 1. Wrong mentality. There was still a trace of luck in my heart, hoping that I could continue to work in the first job I found. As a result, I was delayed both in the interview and in the job.2. Put too much hope on one company. Because I really liked the first Internet company I interviewed for, and I felt that the two sides had a good conversation, so I thought I was very hopeful. However, it turned out that this hope was just my own wish. As a result, I did not pay attention to the subsequent interviews, and naturally I would not receive good results. .
3. The resume is too poorly made. I have always attached great importance to resumes. After the first year of working, I made myself a gorgeous resume. When I went for interviews, everything went smoothly. But now my resume needs to be modified, and I don’t have much time, so I printed it out from the resume on Zhaopin Recruitment. Although it has a lot of content and is comprehensive, the key points are not prominent. HR will not read every word on it. , resulting in a lot of information not being found, making the interview a little impatient, and naturally there was no good result.
4. Clothing styling. Since I look relatively young and like to wear sports and casual clothes, many companies want mature and stable employees, at least in terms of clothing, so they naturally won't consider me.
5. I am picky when submitting resumes. Only those who feel interested in various aspects will submit. Few resumes are submitted, resulting in limited interview opportunities.
The above five points are the five most important factors that I came up with after my analysis, so I will correct the above problems one by one, ready to burn the boat and finally give it a try!
In the last week of August, three days, I had interviews with eight companies, I tried my best!
This is the last week of August. After this week, it will be the military parade on September 3rd. I need to take three days off. The most important thing is that I have put the relevant information on various job search websites. I have submitted my resume. Beijing’s media industry is large, but also very small. There are only dozens of companies recruiting people.
In other words, I am already standing on the edge of the cliff. If I can't find a job before the holiday, I will face an even more difficult September!
The crisis has broken out, but I have been fully prepared. More importantly, I have ignited the will to fight and stimulated more potential in my body under enough pressure. I have already I have a premonition that I will definitely find a job within the next week, and there will be more than one job!
Monday: I did not go out for interviews and continued to submit a batch of resumes at home. The important thing is that I received six interview invitations!
Tuesday: There were three interviews today. In the morning, a well-known music training institution was recruiting directors. Although I waited for nearly an hour and a half before the interview, I felt very uncomfortable, but when it was my turn, the progress was very good. Quickly, after chatting for a few words, I was asked to write something similar to a slogan. Twenty minutes later, I finished writing and handed it to the interviewer. He asked me one by one how to shoot each sentence, what was my idea, and I A little nervous but still taking it in stride. Finally, he asked me to come for on-the-job training tomorrow. There was a three-day training period, so I temporarily agreed and started to rush to the next battlefield.
On the way, I began to think about my next move. The interview was obviously successful, but he was too anxious to arrive at the job, and I still have several more admired companies waiting for interviews. Should I give up the opportunity below and come to work here with peace of mind, or should I give up this job and pursue a better opportunity? I was struggling in my heart, but it didn't affect my mood for the interview in the afternoon. I worked for a media company that served the government and produced some orthodox TV programs. The other company is an Internet company that has just started its business. The environment of the entire company is very good, and the interview process is relatively smooth.
Wednesday: There are three interviews today. Since I didn't want to miss the job opportunity I got yesterday, I postponed the induction training to next Monday, which bought me another three days and no worries. In the morning, I was with a company that I personally like very much. It makes smart home appliances. Since I love smart hardware and electronic products very much, I worked extra hard during the interview and had very high expectations for this company. After the interview, I I took the initiative to add the editor-in-chief’s WeChat account and planned to keep in touch after I returned.
The first company I interviewed in the afternoon was a large cosmetics chain. They have a TV column dedicated to their products and are recruiting for all director positions. The company is large and the office environment is also very good. Also in Within the scope of my consideration. The second one is also an emerging Internet company. I feel that the office locations of such companies are very unique, giving people a young, fashionable and energetic atmosphere. However, through communication with the two interviewers, I feel that my advantage is not very great.
Thursday: After taking a short break today, I made appointments with two companies for interviews. The first one is located in a very tall office building in Beijing. Its boss is a very famous strong woman in the industry and often appears in public in various media. However, it may not be a coincidence that the day of my interview was. The boss was organizing a meeting for the whole company. A girl briefly interviewed me and said that she was waiting for the next re-examination. I personally think that the chance of the re-examination may not be great, but it doesn’t matter. Come on. It’s also great to get a feel for the “big business” atmosphere.
The company I interviewed in the afternoon was also a newly founded company. There were only five or six employees including the boss. However, it is currently working on a national-level project. If it is done well, It is still very promising. The interview process went very smoothly, and both parties were quite satisfied. We made an appointment to come for a re-examination the next morning.
Summary:
Let’s talk about the results. From Tuesday to Thursday, I interviewed eight companies for three consecutive days, from start-ups to listed companies; from traditional media to Internet media ; From TV directing to event planning, it can be seen that my selection of industries and positions is quite broad. Because I was fully prepared, although there were many companies for interviews this time, each company did not feel like going through the motions before. At least they were very attentive to get a detailed understanding of both parties. Therefore, I also got four companies. In addition to the music training institution for the first interview, there were also invitations to the Internet company for the interview on the first day, the cosmetics company for the interview on the second day, and the startup company for the final interview on the third day. The first one is a director of promotional videos, and occasionally records music videos for various celebrities. The second one is an event planner, and the remaining two are TV directors. Each company has its own characteristics and attractions for me. The next question before me is which company to work for.
This job search experience was like a desperate counterattack in the face of adversity. First, I made a wrong choice, which wasted half a month of my time. Then there was another period of hesitation, and another week passed. Finally, After a week when I finally felt the pressure, I fought back and finally got what I wanted. The most important thing is to find confidence in the interview. When you have insufficient work experience and average conditions, a good attitude and a carefully crafted resume will definitely increase your chances, at least From my personal experience, this is indeed the case.
Comrades, are you interested in guessing which company I finally chose?
