Why is Jiangmen area in Guangdong called Wuyi area? What does Wuyi mean?

The cultural customs of the five districts, counties and cities under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province are basically the same, and a large number of overseas Chinese with Wuyi nationality unite together and are called "Wuyi" at home and abroad.

"Yi" means county.

Historically, these five places are all county-level units. Even if they are renamed as cities/districts, they still belong to county-level cities administratively.

There are three related names about this area in history: Siyi, Wuyi and Liu Yi (plus Chixi).

Among them, the most used is overflowing.

1983, Wuyi became the official name of Heshan after it was transferred to Jiangmen. However, many overseas Chinese communities still use the name of Siyi.
