Tianwan Nuclear Power Station is located in Tianwan, Lianyun District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. The plant plans to build an 8 million kilowatt PWR nuclear power unit. The construction of two Russian AES-9 1 PWR nuclear power units with a single unit capacity of10.06 million kilowatts in the first phase of the project is a high-tech cooperation between China and Russia in the field of nuclear energy under the impetus of deepening political mutual trust, developing economic and trade and strengthening international strategic cooperation, and it is the largest technical and economic cooperation project between China and Russia so far. The design life of the unit is 40 years, the annual average load rate is not less than 80%, and the annual power generation is 65.438+0.4 billion kWh. AES-9 1 PWR nuclear power unit is an improved design made by Russia on the basis of summarizing the design, construction and operation experience of 20 million kW VVER unit. In order to improve the safety of the unit, a series of important measures have been taken, including four channels of safety system, core melt catcher, all-digital instrument and control system, and double containment of reactor building. Its safety design is superior to that of most PWR nuclear power plants currently operating in the world, and it has reached the international level of the third generation nuclear power plants in some aspects.

The first phase of Tianwan Nuclear Power Station started construction on 1999 1 20 October, and units12 were put into commercial operation on May 7 and August 6, 2007 respectively. 1 2 units have maintained continuous, safe and reliable power operation since they were put into commercial operation.
