There are two undergraduate colleges in Anshan, which are named University of Science and Technology Liaoning and Anshan Teachers College respectively. Anshan Teachers College is a full-time normal undergraduate college and the only pilot unit for graduate students majoring in preschool education.

University of Science and Technology Liaoning, located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, is one of the earliest metallurgical universities in China. It has been selected into the Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Engineers of the Ministry of Education, the National New Engineering Research and Practice Project, the scholarship receiving institution of China government for overseas students, the Hundred Schools Project, the key construction universities of first-class universities in Liaoning Province, the pilot universities of credit system management in Liaoning Province, and the pilot schools of transformation and development in Liaoning Province.

With the right to expel graduate students and the National University Science Park, it is a multidisciplinary university focusing on engineering, covering engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art and other disciplines.

The school was founded in 1948, and 1958 was upgraded to an undergraduate college of Anshan Iron and Steel Institute. Postgraduate enrollment 1980, master's degree award 1983. In 2002, it was renamed Anshan University of Science and Technology; In 2006, it was renamed as University of Science and Technology Liaoning, and in the same year it became a doctoral degree awarding unit.

The school was directly under the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. 1998 transferred to Liaoning Province and the Ministry of Education to build a * * * management, with Liaoning Province as the head. The former Anshan Higher Vocational College, Liaoning People's Armed School, Provincial Food Industry School, Provincial Metallurgical Industry School and Provincial Building Materials Industry School were merged one after another.
