Later, Aaron and Hur held Moses' hand, and Moses' hand was always raised, so Joshua won the battle. But Joshua is on the battlefield. Did he really see Moses raise his hand on the mountain and he won? Moses' hand fell, and he failed? Joshua won't know such a thing when he is fighting on the battlefield. When he comes back from the war, he may think that the war was won because of his bravery. But if someone told him that Moses raised his hand on the mountain and he won, would Joshua complain: "Moses is good at saying beautiful words." God said to Joshua that he would make Joshua a great man in the eyes of Israel. Indeed, before Moses died, he had publicly declared Joshua his heir. But this is just the inauguration. When he inherits this position, people may not truly respect and admire him because he has this position. God promised, "I will make you great in the eyes of all Israel."
