How to apply for maternity allowance

Individuals can apply for maternity allowance or have their employer do it for them. The method of receiving the maternity allowance is as follows:

1. After you are pregnant, bring your family register, marriage certificate, ID card and other relevant documents to your unit's social security operator to submit them, and the operator will help you register for maternity insurance and determine the hospital where you will go for maternity checkups and give birth to your child.

2. At the same time, apply for a birth certificate.

3. When you give birth, bring the medical registration form to the hospital, so that the social security bureau and the hospital can check and settle the bill.4. After giving birth to the child, apply for the relevant certificates, and then bring the medical registration form, the discharge summary (stamped with the official seal), the marriage certificate, the household registration book, the ID card and other relevant documents, and then apply for a maternity allowance at the social security bureau by the unit operator to apply for maternity allowances.

Calculation of Maternity Allowance:

1. Calculation formula of Maternity Allowance: average monthly salary of the employee's employer/30 times the number of days of maternity leave. The employee's contribution base is calculated according to the average monthly salary of the employee's employer in the previous year;

2. If it is lower than 60% of the average monthly salary of local employees in the previous year, it is calculated according to 60% of the average monthly salary of municipal employees in the previous year;

3. If it is higher than more than three times of the average monthly salary of local employees in the previous year, it is calculated according to three times of the average monthly salary of municipal employees in the previous year;

4. If the average monthly salary of the person in the previous year cannot be determined, it shall be calculated according to the average monthly salary of the municipal employees in the previous year.

Where an employer has paid maternity insurance premiums, its employees are entitled to maternity insurance benefits; the employee's unemployed spouse is entitled to maternity medical expenses in accordance with State regulations. The required funds are paid from the Maternity Insurance Fund. Maternity insurance benefits include maternity medical expenses and maternity allowance.
