The medical insurance for one old man and one young woman is designed for pre-school infants and children, schoolchildren and the elderly who are not covered, and is a basic medical insurance system set up by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Labor Security.

Participants are limited to Beijing residents, and urban residents can apply for the insurance at their place of household registration or at the social security office in their place of residence. However, township residents can only apply at their place of residence.
