Do you need a medical insurance card for hospital registration?

Legal analysis: No need. If you don't show your social security card, the expenses incurred will be borne by the individual in full, and the medical insurance fund can't pay it. Insured persons who have received social security cards must show their social security cards when seeking medical treatment in designated medical institutions that have opened card-based medical settlement services.

Legal basis: Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that the part of the medical expenses of the insured who should be paid by the basic medical insurance fund shall be directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical trading units. The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
