According to the Military Service Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), soldiers (conscripts) do not have to pay social security by themselves, but the government pays for the purchase of old-age insurance, housing accumulation fund, medical care and accidental injury insurance.

Conscripts do not buy unemployment and maternity insurance.
