The social security card can be cancelled. The social security card cancellation process is as follows:

After the payment unit handles the insurance registration, in any of the following circumstances, it must handle the cancellation of social insurance registration:

1, the payer is dissolved, bankrupt, revoked, merged or other circumstances;

2. The payer who does not need to cancel the registration in the administrative department for industry and commerce according to the regulations is approved by the relevant competent department or is declared to be terminated or dissolved;

3. The payer goes to the administrative department for industry and commerce for cancellation of registration or the business license is revoked by the administrative department for industry and commerce. If the payer is dissolved, bankrupt or revoked, it must obtain the approval of the relevant departments within 30 days; If the payment is terminated due to other circumstances, it shall, within 30 days from the date of termination of the payment obligation, go to the local tax authorities with relevant information to cancel the registration of social insurance payment information.
