Employees of enterprises participate in the social security plan.

Social insurance is the basic guarantee for future life. Workers who participate in social insurance can get help and compensation in the case of old age, illness, work injury, unemployment and maternity. Laborers, employers and individuals working in the unit have the responsibility and obligation to participate in social insurance. For urban residents without units, they can also participate in social insurance as individuals, but they can only participate in endowment insurance and medical insurance.

Procedures for units and individuals to participate in social insurance:

Unit:

According to the Provisional Regulations on the Collection and Payment of Social Insurance Fees, the employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of establishment, apply to the local social insurance agency for social insurance registration with business license or registration certificate and other relevant documents. Social insurance agencies will issue social insurance registration certificates after examination.

Where the social insurance registration items of the employing unit are changed or the employing unit is terminated according to law, it shall go through the formalities of changing or canceling the social insurance registration at the social insurance agency within 30 days from the date of change or termination.

The employer must declare the amount of social insurance premiums payable to the social insurance agency on a monthly basis, and pay the social insurance premiums within the prescribed time limit after being audited by the social insurance agency.

The social insurance premiums that individual employees should pay shall be withheld and remitted from their wages by their units. Social insurance agencies shall establish and record personal accounts according to regulations.

Personal:

Unemployed individual industrial and commercial households with urban household registration, part-time employees who have not participated in social insurance in the employer and other flexible employees can participate in the basic old-age insurance and basic medical insurance for enterprise employees (including serious illness relief) in their personal capacity.

For the first time, those who participate in the basic old-age insurance and medical insurance for enterprise employees in their personal capacity can go through the insurance formalities at the nearest labor agency in the city or district with their valid ID card, the original and photocopy of the household registration book (the home page and my page should be copied).

Flexible employment insured persons enjoy medical insurance benefits in accordance with the regulations from the seventh month after paying medical insurance premiums for the first time, and retirees who are insured as individuals enjoy medical insurance benefits in accordance with the regulations from the fourth month after paying medical insurance premiums in one lump sum.
